Interview
My first interview was with someone on the implementation team. The 30' call was pleasant and we discussed my experience in tech and in implementation, the day-to-day of someone on the implementation team, team size, team expectations, etc. It was conversational and enjoyable. Her camera was turned off the whole time which was odd to me and something I was really surprised by, but I didn't think too much of it. After the interview, she indicated they would be doing some other interviews but that I'd hear back. I followed up with a thank you and also extended my thanks/interest in moving forward to the HR person who set up the interview. No response. Emailed again about a week later and he replied that while she had recommended me to move on, they were moving forward with extending the offer to another applicant farther on in the process and would let me know if anything fell through. Haven't heard anything since.

Interview
I interviewed with the recruiter and then a hiring manager for a different role but wasn't a fit. The Implementation role came open and the former HM who had interviewed me recommended me to the HM over this role. I was super excited and grateful for the referral. Met with the HM and she barely asked me any questions because I had experience at GRIN (a competitor of Aspire). She told me that I was one of the only candidates in the pool with the experience they wanted and that I would be moving forward to the next round. A week later, after I sent a follow up email, I'm told they extended an offer to someone who had been further along in the process. Fair enough if that person was better, but general language should be used when interviewing and not telling someone specifically that they are moving forward and are not. It's just tacky. I will say the HM was a super nice person and I enjoyed our conversation, but this was the worst interview experience I've had since being laid off in November.
