I recently went through a four-week interview process with AstraZeneca that included seven interviews, culminating in an in-person meeting that was described as a “meet and greet.” Instead, I walked into what can only be described as a firing-squad panel interview with five people in the room, rapid-fire questioning me at random. Had the team been transparent about the format, I would have been prepared. They weren’t.
The panel’s questions felt uncoordinated and surprisingly low-quality, especially for a senior-level HR role. It also became clear during the conversations that the culture is strained, with multiple HR issues openly referenced by interviewers themselves. Not exactly confidence-inspiring.
After investing a month of time, energy, and travel, the process ended with an automated rejection email. No note from the recruiter, no message from the hiring manager, no professional courtesy at all.
If this is how AstraZeneca treats candidates - especially for leadership positions - I can only imagine how they handle employees. I’m grateful I got this preview before signing on. Not recommended.
