I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Atlassian (Sydney) in Jun 2020
Interview
Went through the interview process which seemed to go well. Scored well in all interviews according to the feedback the recruiter received. This seems to have been very positive in terms of craft, skills, leadership and overall fit for the role. While the hiring manager seems to have agreed with said assessment his feedback after the first interview was: 'He is great, on point regarding skills and personality - but I just can't imagine working with him.' The hiring manager thought this was very strange. I asked the recruiter whether its worth continuing the process and she mentioned that 'if your craft and skills assessments are positive, this won't affect your chances of being hired'. Subsequent interviews yielded only positive feedback. Suddenly I received a call saying the hiring manager decided that the role should be more junior and that the position was impacted. A week later I received another call saying that the hiring manager and his manager met again and decided that I suddenly wouldn't be a good enough fit, which felt like an afterthought. No tangible examples or feedback in terms of what may have been amiss was provided. Quite frankly, the 180 turn in assessment felt as though the hiring manager was looking for someone more junior and was looking for a justification to discontinue the current process.

Screening, multiple interviews with different stakeholders, challenge with multiple people in attendance. quite detailed and in-depth. pretty straightforward. Negotiated offer before accepting. Process is quite long but not too frustrating as they keep you up to date.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Atlassian (Seattle, WA) in Aug 2025
Interview
Resume screening at Atlassian is not good as I got rejected and got in because I was able to get a hold of someone that is in the organization. So, unless you know someone getting a call from this company has slim chances.
The call with recruiter was very standard template oriented. After that I had a TPM screen where a peer interviewed me. Despite technical challenges, feedback was positive but they moved forward with other candidates. I felt like there was a lack of transparency in the process.
