Applied online. Looking for some part time work while I'm in school. Have 15 year auto repair experience and 4 years auto parts sales experience both retail and wholesale. Was given a phone call to meet with a DM for my interview I guess they liked my resume and wanted me for more than a sales person. Interview was brief maybe 15 minutes. DM was very curt and passive aggressive. Not sure why but I got a cold feeling from the moment I walked in. At the risk of sounding like I'm bragging I'm far too qualified to be just a sales person but like I said I'm in college and just wanted to make a few bucks part time. Also I actually really enjoy selling parts and helping people who can't afford a mechanic I like sharing my personal knowledge to help folks save money. Long story short I never got a call back. I had to call the store I interviewed at to get an answer. All I was told by the manager was there was an issue with the background check and was given no other info. Odd since I have no criminal record, clean job history, have served in the Army and am currently interning at my county sheriff's office which has a much more rigorous back ground check . I even contacted corporate and they said they would get to the bottom of this but of course I never heard back. I think this cat just didn't like me for some reason. Thier loss. I think Maybe because I've worked in the parts business in this area in the past I may have out sold him or took some of his customers when I worked for a competitor maybe he remembered my name from someplace. I can only speculate. I drive by that store daily and they constantly have help wanted signs out. Last week the had 4 signs on the road and two on the windows. Desperate? Good luck.... Autozone.
