I applied to a position online via the company’s website. Within 1 week a company leader reached out to me to schedule a phone interview.
Phone Interview: Team member did not call when they had scheduled the interview. I followed up over email and we rescheduled for later in the day. After a successful call, next steps were to complete an at home assignment and interview at the office.
At home assignment: I followed up after the phone interview and received the assignment two weeks later. The assignment was very thorough and I spent over 20 hours working on it.
In-person Interview: This was also scheduled 2+ weeks after initial call. Team member had not read my assignment prior to meeting. I felt rushed and the interview was not very professional. I was not provided time to ask any questions.
Follow Up Call: Team member scheduled a follow up call after meeting. He did not call during the scheduled time, so we arranged to speak later in the night. Did not call again, so we touched base in the morning.
Second In-Person Interview: I was asked to come back to the office to meet with another AvantStay staff member.
Next steps..
I reached out after the second interview and was told that they would be in touch with next steps. Over two weeks later, I followed up again with no response (email and phone).
I would hope that as a hospitality company, the corporate office is able to create a more hospitable environment for future recruits. As someone who spent many hours towards the interview process, I would appreciate a short note to stand by for updates or that they have decided to go in a different direction. After over 2 months of interviewing, I was eventually told that they were no longer looking to introduce the role.
