I wish I could say interviewing was a more positive experience. The first recruiter passed me onto the next round, then immediately called me back and started asking me the same questions. I thought, nbd that happens to the best of us. I really enjoyed my convo with the ladies in round 2, so when they sent me their “assessment” (which are scenarios of how to handle client issues) I was happy to fill it out and show my knowledge and from having worked for multiple STR companies.
In the final interview the person wouldn’t show their camera and said I could turn mine off but I left mine on. By this round I could read between the lines that internal politics may be playing a larger role than they should, but that’s often a common startup issue.
The call ended positively and I was told they’d be interviewing several other people and are looking to fill TEN positions! They told me to expect offers to start going out the following week, so I was genuinely surprised to receive an email the very next morning telling me “after much deliberation” that they would not be moving forward but keep my info on file. Since they opened that door I asked if there was an professional feedback or items I could work on for future application purposes. No surprise they never answered that, but it certainly left me with the same impression as other reviews - that they were trying to leverage my expertise on how to handle tough client situations without compensating me for my knowledge.
I believe I dodged a bullet by not leaving my current employer on this one, and recommend they take a more in depth look at their decision making process if they ‘d like to affect positive outcomes internally.
