Interview
Went through a very simple phone conversation with the recruiter. They then sent me a six hour take home exam. During the phone screening it was mentioned how they were looking for a new software. I was able to create excel formulas to satisfactorily create a consolidated P&L for their multiple cities but I let them know that it would take minutes if they used a software I'm familiar with and can help them implement. I received no feedback and had to reach out to them before receiving a generic denial email.

Question 1
(sent an Excel attachment with these questions) The attached file contains five made up P&Ls for different cities. Using this information, please build out a dynamic consolidated P&L for all 5 cities in a way that allows us to: 1. Quickly filter by city or total consolidated company (i.e., shows all of the P&L categories, but sums up all of the city figures), 2. Shows performance by year, quarter and month, and 3. Allows for the ability to add more city P&L tabs with similarly formatted data into the file (e.g., City6, City7, etc.) that are automatically captured in the consolidated P&L.
