It started with a phone call with the VP of Engineering. I got a take-a-home assignment for a basic application that needs to be done in Symfony, PHP. Although I am a Java developer, it was a good exercise for the weekend. The second round was a live interview. Basic questions such as how indexing works in SQL. The third round was a weird Wonderlic IQ assessment.
I got an offer, but it was less amount than what I asked for as a base compensation in their recruiting form and what I mentioned to the HR manager after the third round. VP of Engineering tried to convenience me their average benefits package will cover up my less base pay. You shouldn't have interviewed me or at least let me know earlier if my expected salary falls outside your salary range for the position.
