      Business Optimization Manager Interview

      Sep 27, 2022
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at BD (New York, NY) in Aug 2022

      Interview

The initial HR interview was just an email answering the questions that would have been asked in a HR phone screen. Over the course of roughly 2 months there were overall 4 video calls, 1 with hiring manager, 3 with other people adjacent to or on the team. Most of the people were pleasant to talk to, but one showed up late. After the first video call, I hadn't heard back in ~2 weeks, but had received a check up call from HR/recruiting asking if I was still interested. They said I should have followed up to let them know after the first video interview. This seemed odd and something that wasn't communicated that I needed to do, nor is that a standard practice that I've seen at other companies. I did get scheduled to complete 3 more video interviews after this was cleared up. I received positive feedback in each interview, but received no offer after waiting several weeks after the last interview. Another observation was that most of the interviewers couldn't give a strong answer on what exactly this role would be working on in terms of projects/initiatives or how the successful candidate would work with the various groups it interacted with. This was slightly concerning even after asking the question in each interview. Suggestions for improvement: - Try to streamline and expedite along the scheduling and interview process. - Be more communicative about the progress of the application after each step. - Have a clear story/message to the overall expectations from each interviewer of the role candidates are being interviewed for.
