I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at BNP Paribas in Jan 2010
Interview
One half an hour C++ paper test. Was easy enough to weed out BOZOs. Then a 2+ hours discussion on the test and other C++ questions. The interviewer was a very technical person and nice guy to get along with. He was my technical architect in the role. As it was a Friday, the interview got extended to around 3 and half hours. He literally told me on my face that they would be hiring me and did so.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at BNP Paribas (Porto, Oporto) in Nov 2025
Interview
The process included three stages: an initial HR screening, a technical assessment, and a final technical interview at BNP Paribas. The first two stages were well-structured and professional. However, during the final technical interview, the discussion was stopped very early after the first question, with feedback that my profile was not a match. As an experienced engineer, I believe stopping an interview at such an early stage is not a professional approach, as it does not allow a fair assessment of a candidate’s overall skills. In my own experience of interviewing candidates, I always continue for a reasonable duration since it’s understood that not every question will be answered perfectly, and a broader evaluation gives a more accurate picture.
