Dear fellow job seekers,
I wanted to share my recent recruitment experience with BT Group to provide insights for those considering opportunities with the organization. This has been one of the most unpleaseant recruitment processes on which I have been "headhunted".
While my initial interaction was promising, there were notable challenges in the process that might be worth considering.
Firstly, be cautious if the recruiter suggests multiple roles with seemingly perfect matches and discusses salary ranges early on. In my case, suddenly the second role (by chance, the one conducted to be chosen) presented a significant salary reduction (-£40k that the first introduced) after I had invested a lot of time and effort in the recruitment process (6 pager exercise matching the chosen role with my profesional experiences).
Additionally, when asked to prepare an additional and detailed presentation, ensure that the expectations are clear, and realistic timelines are provided. In my situation, a last-minute adjustment and a short preparation window left me in a difficult position. (I had already lost the trust on them when they told me to just jump into the recruitment process for the second role without having confirmed the reason for the sudden decrease on the salary range expectations)
Finally, be mindful of feedback discrepancies. I was informed that I hadn't provided enough information about my current role during the business case and presentation, yet certain details were understandably confidential. This raised questions about the transparency and intentions behind the recruitment process...
Remember to weigh these aspects carefully if approached by a recruiter offering one or multiple positions. Transparency and consistency are key, and it's essential to assess if the company's actions align with your expectations, especially if they ask you for presentations that could violate the privacy of your current company, because that may be the only thing they want from you in this case. J
Just for you to know, top companies in the market are not requesting business cases, nor 30/60/90 days implementation / presentations for that reason (it is quite obsolete), they are just doing competency base interviews, specially at this kind of high management level. So please check other comments and you will find their intentions very quickly.
Best of luck in your job search, and may your experiences be positive and fulfilling.
