I applied online. I interviewed at BT Group in Oct 2022
Interview
I applied after seeing the role on indeed and within a week or two later I received an email from the recruiter informing me that I had been shortlisted for a first stage interview with the hiring manager, The interview was intense from start to finish (it was pretty awful). Despite reseaching the company and its history beforehand it made absolutely no difference. The hiring manager appeared vacant and completely uninterested in my responses. At the end of the interview which was just short of an hour the hiring manager informed me that as he would be on holiday the next week , the person overseeing recruitment would be updating candidates in his absence. I sent an email that week to receive feedback from the recruiter and I was met with no response. The following week I sent another email and this time was told by the recruiter that he was still waiting on the hiring manager for feedback regarding interviews and that I should hear back from him soon. Today I received this feedback from the recruiter on behalf of the hiring manager " I have spoken to the hiring manager and sadly you are not being progressed to the next stage of interview process. The hiring manager felt you came across well at the interview but some of the answers to questions felt overly long and not as specific as he would have hoped. Other responses felt like they were read from your CV rather than applying specific examples to each question. Hopefully the feedback will help in future processes and we wish you all the best in your search and thank you for the time in this process!" This experience has put me off and I found the hiring manager's feedback rude and unecessary critical.
