Filling in long forms on their portal. Mostly personal questions, very few pertaining to professional experience. Disappointingly, no technical questions were asked for this technical role before they made the decision to reject. The process simply wastes candidates' time.

Situational awareness test: comprising of 21 questions based on fabricated scenarios to do with office politics. The questions are "no wrong answer" style, but of course you need to match some desired profile.

Interview
One month after a take-home exercise and an on-site interview I was told that the role was assigned to someone within the organisation as a promotion. So it seems I was invited for an interview to fulfill formalities whilst the management promoted their crony. Very unethical to say the least!

There were questions about statistics, machine learning, etc. The usual stuff a data scientist is supposed to know.
