I reached out to Base via a job posting on their site. The job was perfect for me, and the product simply blew me away. So the real question was the culture fit. I crafted what I think was the best cover letter of my life explaining who I am, what I offer and what I can bring to the role. They responded immediately. Conversations started that delved into not just the experience I could bring to the company but into who I am as a person, what drives me, what are my passions, etc.
I met via Skype with the CCO the day after I submitted my application. I then met with the CEO and CCO when they were in the Bay Area (at the time, the company was moving HQ from Chicago to the Bay Area). Their questions showed me so much about the culture:
-- direct communication
-- child-like curiosity
-- deep passion for sales productivity
My time with these two gentlemen helped me see how much of a fit this was for me. I relentlessly pursued them and the opportunity and was delighted to get an offer after references were confirmed (on both sides of the table - I checked on them via an investor and the review was raving).
