I found out about Bazaarvoice through a friend, and submitted my resume through their website, but didn't apply for any positions that were open at the time. A year later, their design team recruiter sent me an email, saying that they would call me for a phone interview the next day.
During the phone interview, I was asked how I found out about Bazaarvoice, what my favorite portfolio pieces were, and a couple of technical questions to test my knowledge for the position. I was asked to send additional portfolio samples, which I did. The recruiter then scheduled an on-site interview for me in a few days.
I interviewed with 3 people, including a peer (separately, for 30 minutes each). I was asked questions to determine how current I am with design trends, what my experiences are working in teams, what I think about their products and UGC in general, how I manage my own projects, and given a short written test.
After the interview, I sent a quick design mockup to the person who would be my boss in the position (Creative Director). The next day, the recruiter called to tell me that I was moving to the next round: a week-long art test. After completing and submitting the art test, I was called in for interviews with 2 of the HR executives in order to assess whether I would be a good cultural fit in the company. After the interviews, the recruiter made me an offer, which I accepted. The offer made was in the range of what the recruiter had run by me during the initial phone interview.
Perceptions: Every one that I came into contact with during the interview process was incredibly polite and friendly, and they all obviously love their jobs. The recruiter was very open and honest with me about what I did right, how people felt about me after meeting me, and was very timely in getting back to me and keeping things organized during the process. I was told that I impressed the Creative Director by taking the initiative to send a mockup after the interview. I found the recruiter to be extremely helpful in the information that she was able to provide before and after the interviews, without any prompting on my part.
