Great initial conversation with the Recruiter until we covered the compensation expectation portion. When inquired what the budget for the role is, she said she couldn't share that- which is illegal in California by the way. When I provided with my salary expectation range, she had the audacity to quantify my years of experience without consideration for transferable or indirect skills/experience and put a number on my worth. Such a shame because I know candidates are critical to the old school mentality of years of experience equals expertise. However, please re-evaluate the way information is shared with candidates as that leaves such a terrible taste going through this process. She could have simply stated that there is misalignment without subjectivity.
