I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Bentley Systems (Hoofddorp) in Oct 2022
Interview
Pretty typical, all over teams, first round more general, second round more technical and in depth. The second round included two supervisors, and we mostly talked about previous support and engineering work.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Bentley Systems (London, England) in Sep 2020
Interview
10 mins demonstration of in house software used to candidate by the
technical hiring manager, 10 mins more discussions about my knowledge on
the role and additional discussion (if required) then 10 mins more talk about
myself and my past experiences theoretically from my BSc Software
Engineering degree any occasional work experiences.
Total time approximately 40 mins video chat on MS Team with hiring manager
and only selected members will be contacted for a 2nd round interview within
1 week timeframe
PS: After 1 week been told that I was "unfit" for the role and they moved on with someone who had more "technical support background". The job specification stated that "experience of a helpdesk role is not required" which was one of the reasons why I considered requesting my application to be sent out. Clearly the job specifications are not accurate for this position and could mislead job seekers.
Also, if all companies only want "ready made" candidates even at entry level works then I believe they are simply lazy and do not want to invest in potential new talented staff but only give a chance to those who are already working in the industry and therefore rending the whole purpose of gaining a degree pretty irrelevant for new comers.
