Phone screen led to a virtual onsite with a coding round and a system design round. Recruiting was excellent throughout — clear, responsive, good prep guidance.
The system design round fell short. These interviews are a two-way discussion — the interviewer needs to set expectations and engage, so the candidate knows what to focus on and whether they're on the right track. That didn't happen here. Clarifying questions went mostly unanswered, and the round felt one-sided, with little signal on direction throughout.
Advice to Management: Calibrate system design panels on active engagement — it's not a format candidates can carry alone.
