I applied online. I interviewed at Bloomberg (Seoul) in Jul 2017
Interview
Applied online, contacted by HR in Hong Kong, interviewed at Seoul office with 5 people. Did a job screening, which was watching one of the managers go through Terminal and have job related conversation, Lastly, did a video interview with one of the directors in Singapore.
The job itself the Seoul team explained was completely different from job description. It seemed like a data science related job with Python, R, SQL, etc. as required skills in the JD. When I spoke to the team, it was more of a data quality control and Terminal support job. The manager informed me that I will rarely use Python or R for data analysis work and 90% will be about daily support job for Terminal. One of the tech analysts person I spoke to was the only one technical and seemed like he does web scraping work a lot. His role seemed more relevent to the JD but this role wasn't.
The last video interview was 100% behavioral and he did have much knowledge about data science. He said he values finance domain knowledge more than technical skills, which is exactly opposite of current trend in finance. I did not hear back from this interview even after I asked for an update to the recruiter.
If you have data science related technical skills and would like to pursue career in data analytics, this isn't the role for you.
Video call with 2-3 rounds interview with different people. Case was given in a group setting that you have to work with other candidates. After that you will get into breakout rooms for 1-2-1 interviews where they will ask about your motivation to join the company and why this role.
Did one interview I thought it went well but I was rejected at the first stage. Asked for feedback they said they choosed somebody already in the department.
Waste of time.
