      Software Development Interview

      Oct 3, 2014
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Bloomberg in Oct 2014

      Interview

Got the interview through a university career fair. The first interview was quite easy, the second really hard. I was asked questions about material that I had not yet taken the classes for and the interviewers did not seem to care. They continued to ask me questions about topics not taught at all at the university that only professionals/experts in C++ would know rather than the general conceptual/algorithmic/brain teaser questions that I have encountered in previous interviews. Also, there were no behavioral questions in the 2 hours of interviewing.

      Question 1

Something regarding the destructor for non-dynamically allocated variables (aka variables on the stack, not heap) and how you can override this using some library that nobody I've asked about so far on campus has ever heard of.

      Interview

Talked to someone during my college career fair and got an on-campus interview a week later. The interview was pretty nice. Talked about my resume for 5-10 minutes, then jumped into two interview question. The interviewer was very nice and guided me through any problem/questions I had.

      Anonymous Interview Candidate

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Bloomberg

      Interview

Applied online through the Bloomberg website and received an email inviting me to complete a phone interview. I replied to the recruiter with my availability and she scheduled my interview time. My interviewer called me at the appointed time and we both were logged into a HackerRank session for coding in real time. He was somewhat difficult to understand but still polite and answered my questions at the end of the interview, but overall was left with a poor impression.
