Booking.com Software Engineer Graduate interview questions

It consisted of the following stages: 1- Online technical test 2- HR interview with the recruiter & and technical interview with 2 engineers in a job fair 3- On-site interview in Amsterdam. The on-site interview consisted of several sessions with engineers and managers, with both technical and non-technical questions.

Spoke to a recruitment person no real interview nice and casual chat about the role and the company. Sent a test which can be written in whatever language you wish. Fairly simple piece of software using API calls took around 3 days to do the lot as well as cleaning all the code up. Once sent off got an email saying i was accepted to an assessment day. The assessment day included a tour around the offices (Very smart i may add). Then a standard interview where to developers asked normal interview questions. Then another interview which involved talking through the test and then answering some questions. Had a phone call a week later saying i had not got the job due to confidence in the technical questions. Which i believe is a little unfair as a graduate why would you be overly confident when talking to people who have a lot more experience. I came away confident from the day however it wasn't to be but i do think they believe you should know a lot more about software than a university student knows. I probably in total spent 5-6 days on the whole process and put this before university work. After reading another reply about the same process and interview it seems i was just put with the wrong interviewees and got asked some questions which did trip me up. Maybe if the same people interviewed all the candidates this would give it more of balanced view. I would have said a positive experience however after reading a review on how someone else interview went and they got offered the job it was pretty unfair
