30 minute phone screen with recruiter. Did not make it past this round because I didn't have the experience they were looking for. Most questions were the basics: Tell me about yourself...Why Box?
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Box in Apr 2021
Interview
The first round of Interviews was with the data science lead over zoom. Not many technical questions, but there are a few case scenarios.
The questions were not very clear, more like an open answer question, I had to ask many questions before answering.

Question 1
How do you get free users to become paying customers?
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Box (Redwood City, CA) in Dec 2016
Interview
A recruiter reached out to me from Hired.com. Right away, I spoke to the hiring manager. I should have declined at that point but I kept continuing. The way data science is structured at Box is that it falls under the analytics organisation. Thus, the role is more BI. The interview with the hiring manager was fairly simple. He asked questions about model development in the traditional statistical sense. Then simple Python questions such as dict and iterating through lists. The next step was a take home test. Mainly SQL queries and some basic CS fundamentals like sorting. Then a call with the VP. It was all BI related which is not my speciality. Finally, an onsite. At this point, I knew the role was not for me. When I asked them how they are different from BI, they said "we are more technical."
