I applied online. I interviewed at Box (Warsaw, Masovia) in Jun 2025
Interview
Very long, but also very well structured, good job.
Involved a coding asessement that you have 3 hours for, but you could do it in like 2. The last question out of the 3 was a little bad in my opinion, It was this confusing 'dynamic programming' algorithm question that you either remember how to solve because you looked it up, or you dont.
It also had a section where you explain your solutions which wasnt timed.
Overall 9/10 for this stage.
Then you get a take home assignment, for 2 weeks. We had chess (shogi actually) with slightly modified rules. It had super specific instructions and automated tests, They also held about 4 zoom calls here they give 'hints' for the assignment, which was nice, but i didnt need them because it was all very basic info.
Then theres an interview if you were in the top something percent by unit tests passed (so if you passed 100% interview is guaranteed). The interview consisted of a 1h technical interview, where you mostly had to showcase your solution, and live coding where they ask you to add a feature. Then right after i had a 30 min behavioral interview with HR. Kind of didnt like that they were in row with no break, i was too exausted from the intensive technical interview to give my best performance on the behavioral.
Overall process was incredibely transparent and well organized(with a few caveats).
I applied online. I interviewed at Box (San Francisco, CA) in Mar 2021
Interview
-all online and virtual
-pre-recorded responses
-very generic questions like about strengths and weaknesses
-took a total of 20 min
-4 questions with 30 secs of prep and then 2-3 min of answering time
I am currently in university graduating in 2020 and received a simple bot reply saying that they are not continuing with my application as they are only looking for people graduating in 2019 and 2020. This is despite my qualifications and years of experience before even entering university. This clearly shows that not one person in the hiring department at all as my graduation date is clearly shown on the top of my CV in the first line.
