Interview
I applied to Braintree as I felt that it was one of the fintech teams where I might be a good fit. The recruiters were prompt and helpful throughout the process. I did a coding test, and a phone interview before my virtual on-site that had a technical interview, a Core values interview, a code- pairing , a system design and a final interview with a manager. I felt like I put my best foot forward and I was honest and sincere about my abilities and shortcomings. So I genuinely felt confident for maybe the first time ever in an interview. All the interviewers were great and I enjoyed the time spent during the interviews. They made it a point to tell me that they are not going to have any trick questions and put me to ease.. It would really be great to work with any of them.
But...i didn't make it. So I would mark this as a difficult interview as I really do not know what I could have done better. The recruiter said that the cool off period is a year.

recruiter call, then a challenge which takes few hours. After that, you are called onsite. But in my case, recruiter asked for challenge and I gave him within the same week. I was super interested with the company. Recruiter mentioned he will get back to me after he gets feedback from the engineer who checked my challenge. Its been 1 month, I still haven't heard from them. I got into tier 2 company so I let go. But this kind of experience was super bad. Next time, I am not applying for Braintree at all. Heard bad stuff about them from friends at PayPal.

Interview
One of the worst candidate experiences in my career.
The process started out fine. I applied online, quickly heard from a recruiter who scheduled a phone chat, quickly received and completed a coding assessment, heard back that the feedback was positive, scheduled and had a phone interview w/2 engineers, heard that the feedback was positive from that as well.
But despite all of this effort on both parties and an understanding that I wanted to move quickly with the process, I haven't heard anything useful from the company in two weeks. This is despite the fact that I was in town and the recruiter mentioned trying to schedule a quick onsite during that time. Instead what I got was essentially "the feedback has been positive but we're doing some headcount planning right now, can we try again in a few weeks"?
