Sent resume via Braintree's career website. Received email via Jobvite the usual template - Hi Insert Name.,
Thanks for your interest in Braintree! I'm on the recruiting team here, and I'd love to set aside some time to hear more about you and your background.
Let me know when you might have some time for a phone call tomorrow or next week, and I'll plan on it!
Yeah, that's fun. An automated email to set up a phone interview. The interview was setup and the recruiter was late for the phone chat. I can tell she didn't review my credentials - so I was already turned off from the process. Basically this a position with about 14 members on the team supporting Braintree merchants. Yeah, that's hot.
I didn't sense any career progression, new innovation, or excitement about this role so my enthusiasm evaporated while the recruiter struggled to do this interview. I received the "the team has decided to move forward with other candidates in process who are a closer match to what we’re looking for" email a few days later and I was happy as a lark. I'm not a match for this position because I'm too talented and overqualified for such brainless activity.

Interview
There was a 4 stage interview process: recruiter/HR phone interview, take home excel exercise, team lead phone interview, and a final in person interview with 6 team members. The in person interview included a problem solving test. Overall it was an average interview process. The final in person interview included a tour with HR, 30 min with 2 team members, 30 min with another 2 team members, and 30 with the department head. The 30min time was VERY rigid and the questions didn't seem structured. It was difficult to get into much detail and each group repeated questions from the last.

First step was a phone screen with the recruiter of the Account Management team, which took about 20 minutes. We discussed my experience, the Relationship Manager role, and Braintree as a whole. The second step was a take-home excel test. I was given about a day and a half to complete the assignment and submit my responses. After they reviewed the assignment, I was asked to come onsite. At this interview I completed a Wonderlic assessment and another excel test. I then met with one of the current Relationship Managers in SF. The next day I was asked to come back for a second onsite interview. I was told that the Director of Account Management (based in Chicago) would be in SF and they wanted me to come in to meet with her and the second Relationship Manager in SF. At this onsite, I met with the other Relationship Manager first. It was a very routine conversation and it gave me a better idea of what a Relationship Manager's day-to-day looked like. When I met with the Director, we ran through a casual payment exercise and discussed my background some more. Overall, the meetings went well and I was told they would be in touch the following week. A few days later they set up a Skype interview with another Relationship Manager based in Chicago. We had our Skype interview and I was told that they would have a final update at the end of the following week. I didn't get the offer, as they decided to go with a candidate with a payments background.

Recruiter reached out to schedule a screening phone call. The recruiter was great - she knew exactly how to handle the interview to get the most information out of me while making me feel comfortable and answered all my questions prior to me asking them. She really knew her stuff and was prompt in both initiating the screening as well as letting me know what they decided. Overall a great experience despite not being the right fit for the role.
