I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Bridgewater Associates (New Haven, CT) in Feb 2017
Interview
I was contacted by a recruiter who came across my resume. My first interview was a phone screen but it was more of a formality. The recruiter pretty much got on the call, asked pitched BW, asked me to talk about myself for a little bit, before asking me if I could come into the office for small scale superday. Apparently, I was interviewing out of season but they were reaching to enough people at that point to schedule a superday. So I went to the superday (which was the only in-person interview required).
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
1) In the first session I had, the interviewers had been asked to think of a philosophical question of interest. We were assigned to different groups and within those groups, the interviewer chose one of our philosophical questions and we discussed it as a group. Our group discussed something around the right to vote and whether everyone ought to have it. My second session was a one-on-one interview. The interview started by asking me the topic we discussed in the first session and my final thoughts from it. He then pushed back on my opinions and we spent the rest of the interview jumping around all sorts of discussions such as whether it's okay to punch a Nazi in the face and the legitimacy of state-sanctioned violence.
First round with HR.
Second round is a group discussion. Given a topic, there is no right or wrong. I think they are trying to understand your thinking process and how you deal with problems.

Question 1
