      Senior Financial Accountant Interview

      Jul 13, 2019
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Chester, England
      Declined offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Bristol Myers Squibb (Chester, England) in Jun 2019

      Interview

BMS has a fantastic recruitment team who are very accommodating to the candidates'schedule. The people I met were all very nice and had been working for the company for decades and they made me feel very comfortable. I received a response to my application within 2 weeks and had a phone interview with HR asking about eligibility to work in the country and salary expectations at a minimum. Next, 1st round of interview: This was very much competency based questions centred around the skills required for the role. I am not going to disclose all the questions however practising the standard competency based questions should help navigate this smoothly. I did not feel like I answered some of the questions the way I would have loved to but overall it went well. I was very transparent about my shortcoming and always be yourself. Be prepared to ask questions about the company as well and research them. Next round was a presentation to be made to a panel for which they give you enough time to prepare for. There was no wrong or right answer but I feel it well. Within a week of the interview, they gave me constructive feedback about the presentation and also informed me that they were going through a restructure in the team which meant they had to get authorisation for the new role which they feel will fit me best. Having read the specs of the new role though very similar to the initial role, I felt it would not have been a role I would have applied to if I was reading it at first glance without having met the people and realised how much of a good company BMS was. Also, the day before I got the offer, I had just been promoted within my current company which made it hard for me because both BMS and my current company are very similar. Ultimately, I went with my heart and decided to decline the offer and stay with my current employer. Overall, a very positive experience.
