The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Build-A-Bear in Mar 2012
Interview
It was a very new and exciting experience. First, there was a group interview, which consisted of 9 other girls. We went around the circle and had to introduce ourselves and then they asked us to get a heart. We then went around the circle; each person got a new scenerio in which they had to come up with a heart ceremony. They wanted to see how fast we could come up with new and exciting ways to bring the bear alive for different people. After that, we were split into groups, where we had to sell the bear to them. We went back into the circle and we had to explain why we wanted to work here, etc. In the second interview, it's very relaxed and essentially I talked one of one with one of the managers and afterward took the test. It's a very relaxed and free environment.
Standard interview process, only I feel like they told me too much information about current employees, and to not even give me the second interview they said they would reach out to me for.
I applied in-person. I interviewed at Build-A-Bear (Stratford, London, England)
Interview
Group Interview with around 14-20 young girls, very awkward. Had to do group activities, was given hints that I’d get a call back and heard nothing from them. Also the first thing we were asked to do was SING our favourite karaoke song which was very awkward and some good candidates lost points because of that alone,

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Build-A-Bear (Greenville, SC) in May 2025
Interview
Started with one of the 2 managers asking general questions to gauge personality, likability, individual traits/characteristics/habits, and the way you interact with others. 2nd portion of interview was an online assessment with basic questions to make sure you are not a criminal or morally incapable of taking up the position. 3rd portion was the other manager asking more about your passions/hobbies/personal background, and then discussing availability, wage expectations, dress code, etc. The whole interview lasted around 45 minutes.
