      Associate Consultant Interview

      Jul 25, 2021
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at C Space

      Interview

Interview consisted of 3 rounds. First with recruiter, second with a director, third with multiple members of the team with a presentation of an assignment (standard for market researches). Overall, they made the company seem a lot better than it actually was. Lied that they were going to grow in headcount significantly when there's so much turnover all my interviewers quit by the time I started. Job was meant to seem to be more sophisticated than it actually was, since so much is admin work. Timelines about promotions were vague during the interview and i see why: incredible favoritism and political BS at c-space that I couldn't have anticipated. The 'great' training they talked about during interview was bare bones when people had spare time after the first week of onboarding. Most of the job is fire fighting with absurd client demands, poor data quality and practices, and pseudoscience work delivered by leaders with marketing and ad backgrounds lacking research chops. Company overall gave off a very agency vibe compared to competitors (vision critical, fuel cycle, forrester) which they used to justify a pathetic salary offer with no signing bonus, no eoy bonus, no cost of living raises (raises aren't even given to everyone if not promoted and if so are like 1%). Assuming you advance, can go from 55k to 65k at consultant level, then in 80ks and 100ks at sc and ad level, then skies the limit, and then you start to get bonuses. But still below comparable rates. Offers for this entry/mid-entry level role at other companies are often 5-15k higher with eoy bonuses.

      Interview

Two interviewers took the place. One Senior Consultant and one middle level consultant. They started from introducing myself, and continuing with questions about collecting data and build a relationship with customers. They also gave me a situation question as well.

      Interview

The interview process included two behavioral interviews and then a case interview. The case was more qualitative in nature and seemed related to what the company actually did. The behavioral interviews were pretty standard questions asking about work history, strengths, and why I was interested in the company/role.

3 phases, first with HR, then with two Senior Consultants / Associate Directors, then the last is a case study presentation exercise with 2 Directors. First round is typical HR interview going over your CV and experience. Second round is also classic interview, with a stronger focus on the role competencies and research background. Third round, you prepare a case study exercise and presentation, then present it and answer questions.
