The interview process was fantastic until I met with the founders / owners. Everything I said was met with a very odd negativity. and their interpretation on employee growth was nothing I have seen before.
Me being excited about growing my career was met with a very odd, well its not about you its about the company and the companies goals attitude. making me feel like I was only being seen as a tool that could help the company. Rather then what an employee agreement should be, a joint employee agreement where an employees growth could benefit them and the company in the long term.
I felt like the owner told me 'this is your box now stay in that box'.
The biggest thing that made me go 'yeah not this company' was when they asked me about their product. I told them that I really liked the training courses and it was something I could get excited about unlike other jobs I've had like insurance which isn't as exciting.
The response to this was "I don't like that statement because if your not excited about a job then why take it?"
I didn't take the job because I'm necessarily excited about insurance.
I took the job because I had to...
When COVID comes and results in massive layoff people don't have options they are just doing what they can to survive.
the fact that the owner does not see this or understand this shows me that the leadership of this company is very out of touch with its employees.
