I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at COMSOL (Cambridge, England) in Apr 2022
Interview
Got shortlisted after two weeks of my online application. First round of interview was on phone by a technical director and took around 30 minutes, several questions about fluid flow and mass transfer concept and PDEs , I answered almost all the questions and received an email after two hours for the second round of interview to be online. I was guided in the email that it is going to be all technical and about mass transfer and chemical reaction in energy devices ( I assumed to be about batteries, electrolysers and fuel cells). It was the technical director and a senior application engineer interviewing me using a whiteboard online. They started with difficult questions non-stop for one hour and was about detailed mass transfer and chemical reactions (analysing equations and figures and interpreting detailed physics of such processes). It was nothing about energy devices though! Even I was told before that this is an entry level position, the questions were at high level of difficulty. As I had good background, I could mange over 80 % of the questions. At the end, the said they would inform me within two days if I am selected for the third round of interview to be software demonstration and presentation. However, after 8 DAYS, I received an email that I have not been selected for the third round of interview without giving any feedback/justification.

Question 1
How diffusion and convection would affect the concentration distribution if we have an initial bell shape(Gaussian distribution) of concentration?
First round was a screening round. In the second round, a set of questions were given and then I was asked to send the answers in 24 hours. My answers were discussed later in an interview.

received a typical hr email 3 weeks later
I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at COMSOL (Burlington, MA) in Dec 2022
Interview
First round video call interview Second round on-site research presentation and technical questions. Research presentation is about 20 minutes. Technical questions are mostly about the Galerkin FEM and numerical analysis in general. They did a great job of asking questions about my research too.
