Applied online and within a day or two got a call to setup a video interview with the manager. Manager interview was on Google Hangouts with video. The interview was conversational in nature with just general discussion about the job requirements/expectations. It lasted about an hour and was pretty easy. Second part was a technical assessment. This was basically an open book "test" with about 2 pages of activities and questions to answer. This was rather difficult and took 3-4 hours of my time (a bit much). Part three was a panel interview, also a video Hangouts call. There were three individuals who were peers. Generally pleasant but came across as having a bit of an attitude like they were something special. Which in my opinion was not the case. There sharp individuals but this business is full of that - and they were nothing extraordinary. The questions were random subjects about Linux. Sort of all over the place. Out of the possible 100,000 subjects Linux, they seem to think you should know all of it. Not realistic. Overall it was less than impressive. After having invested roughly 5 hours all they could muster was a "Dear John" HR form email. Not really all that professional. Someone should have enough courage to contact you personally at that point rather than take the easy way out.
