      Interview

The hiring process is a journey made of several steps: - Initial resume screening - Written interview - Aptitude test - Personality test - Technical, strategy and management interviews - Executive interviews with the CTO and CEO - Final interviews for specific role I passed the first three steps: written interview (a 10-pages essay on my life, death and miracles), aptitude test (IQ-like) and personality test. The fourth step was a spoken 20 mins interview called "meet and greet" in which I just had to make questions about the position: it came a bit of a surprise that the process was interrupted after that, since it was only supposed to be a step useful for the candidate, not for the company. Of course the reason was not specified, all communication came through canned e-mail messages, so I assume candidates can spend time for the company but the company doesn't spend time for the candidates, not a even for a tailored response. Too bad I must agree to the other (crappy) reviews about the hiring process in Canonical that can be found on Glassdoor.

      Interview

Multiple steps going over a great deal of time which should be addressed in the future. At least start with those that have the most chance of rejection. - Initial screening - Authoring of essay based on some very interesting questions (around 3-4 hours) - Aptitude and personality tests - Initial HR interview (30 minutes) - 3-4 interviews with engineering leadership (1 hour each) - Interview with CTO (1 hour) - Interview with VP of engineering (depends) - Interview with CEO (depends) Everything was fine during the first stages, I met some very interesting people and had some in depth engineering management and technology discussions. During the last interview, the interviewer was impatient and seemed to me that he wanted to end the interview as soon as possible. The questions were very vague, like pick a subject to talk about, something more in depth and other generalisms amounting to "impress me". He seemed bored the entire time. I did not expect to land the job as my backround is far from the open source community and I had an overall very positive experience up to the last interview.
