The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Canonical in Apr 2022

      Interview

So, as everyone described it here, it starts from a questionnaire containing several questions about your behavior, experience, etc. It was fine with me, as I was excited about the job, so I spent my time and went through all those questions in detail. After that goes the "IQ Test," if you can call it, this test is a total waste of time, in my opinion, but you still have to take a look at the guide and spend 30-40 minutes doing it. Next was the HR call, which was fine, where we discussed things in general. After that, I had two technical 1-hour interviews: both were done by great people, very easy-going, and I enjoyed both conversations. At this point, I thought that we were moving towards the end of the interview process, but boy, I was wrong. I received a take-home task to do (write a simple program and make a readme containing your thought process) and was asked to specify how many hours I had spent doing that task. Next was another short HR call regarding the salary and logistics. The call was good, and I thought that we were going to talk about the offer soon, though I still didn't speak to a hiring manager. And then, I received an e-mail that I had to go through another set of two 1-hour interviews. One was a review of the homework I submitted, and the other was with a hiring manager. At that point, I was utterly lost in the process and had no idea how many interviews will I have to go to in addition. The review call went great, but when I spoke to the hiring manager, we both understood that I was not a good fit for their expectations. I was super upset about the amount of time we could have saved if we had even a 30-minute conversation with the manager from the beginning. Throughout this whole interview process, I received e-mails from the hiring lead. All those e-mails were pre-generated, and most of the questions I sent back were left unanswered. All the engineers working there were great people, but the interview process is a total mess.
