      Engineer Interview

      Anonymous employee
      Boston, MA
      Accepted offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Canonical (Boston, MA) in Aug 2013

      Interview

Multiple brief phone interviews and a single in person interview. Very simple process but I expect this was out of the ordinary for the team and company. These additional words I am adding here in this field are to meet the necessary minimum word count required by this website to submit this section of the form.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Canonical

      Interview

Absolutely de-humanizing process. If your resume looks good, you receive an AI generated email asking you to do a writing assignment about your past, starting from high school, all the way up to your current experience. To do well, you would need to dedicate a number of hours simply to writing and digging up your primary school test scores. If you pass that, you receive another AI generated e-mail that requires you to take a cognitive test from Thomas International that further numericizes your personality so they can filter you out. I did "above average" in the majority of these cognitive tests but almost immediately received a rejection letter. All in all, between the writing assignment, preparing for the test, and the test, most people would spend 4-6 hours just to get to this stage, where the only thing wagered by the company is 3 AI generated e-mails. Truly dystopian. Don't even start the process if you want to retain whatever bit of humanity you have left.
