Capital One started out strong when I got a call from a recruiter about an Atty Relationship Manager position, which was an ideal fit for my skill set and experience. The recruiter emailed me info on benefits and set me up for the rigorous testing that was required prior to an in face interview. I spent all weekend preparing for the math and verbal tests. I do not exaggerate when I say that these tests were extremely difficult. I not only used the practice website provided, but I also got on Khan Academy for help in solving complex, percentage word problems, as math is not my strong suit. I felt like Cap One was looking for MIT grads only.
I then went for a 2 1/2 hour interview with the hiring manager and director of this department. It was odd to say the least. The manager had a huge packet requiring him to literally write down everything I said, so he rarely made eye contact and was madly transcribing my responses to his questions. This did not make for a very fluid interview, as he kept interrupting me and asking me to repeat what I said. I had to answer many situational type questions which the recruiter told me about, so I was well prepared. I will say that this individual did speak highly of the company and seemed enthusiastic about what he does.
The next person i met with with a bit obtuse. When I asked him what he thought of Capital One, his response was, "well, it's a different kind of company". Huh????
This is where everything went south. The recruiter never followed up with me after that. I called her back after a week and got no response. I then called and emailed a few weeks after that. I finally got an email in which she said that they're "building out" that department and everything went well with my interview, and I was still in the running. Black hole thereafter - no rejection, no calls, no emails. Weird! After all I went through to even interview over there, a candidate should at least get a call from a recruiter. I'm not sure I even interviewed for a real job.
I was truly disappointed in this process and my outlook of Capital One.
