I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Capital One in Jan 2015
Interview
I had applied through the company career portal and received a call from HR just in few weeks. The position was different from the one I had applied for and they were ready to offer H1B visa for that position. She briefed me about the power day. I reside in the state where i had applied the position for. So, travel and finding the places were very simple for me.
Interview had 3 components - Two Behavioral, case and Technical.
i had a week to prepare. And i did not have any prior experience of attending a 4 hour interview. Went through multiple experiences in glass door. And browsed about some example of case interview.
Technical, i just counted on my experience.
Interview questions [4]
Question 1
first was Behavior : all questions resembled the ones given by HR. But the interviewer was very keenly noting down and questioning about the things I spoke about. It was 45 minute of discussion and the interviewer was a senior architect who was very seasoned and cool !
Second was Case : The question was about designing a software to handle an automated process.
A tool to judge whether a loan can be given to a customer.
what all parameters, cost, hours to be spent, what other options i should think, deadlines, what should i do if this project has a federal deadline, profits, loss and break even.
it was a healthy conversation. I made few mistakes which were too silly and i was concerned that it will be affecting my selection.
Third Behavior : Questions were asked in a way where i may have to contradict some of the things which i told earlier. i discovered, behavior is not an easy thing to handle. but if you speak the truth, you don have to worry about anything. I was able to give many real time experiences and the discussion was satisfying for me.
Technical : 2 interviewers. Metadata management, table full refresh, design approaches, a real time production issue and solution for it, normalization, ETL tool based questions.
4 leetcode style questions for assessment and later 4 rounds in power day interview. One round on data manupulation , system design, behavioural and code review rounds. Overall interview process was good
Having completed the entire process yet, but the recruiter and coordinator have been pleasant to work with. They give you tips and tricks to complete for OA and their powerday.
too technical but covered all grounds, enjoyed the process. It kinda boosted my expectations, which is rare. Was stuck at a point and the hiring manager was kind enough to help me a bit, was nervous but hopefully everything went amazing.
