I had two phone interviews with a recruiter then the hiring manager. I had spoken to the recruiter a number of times and appreciated his candor and preparation prior to each call. The hiring manager was professional and his questions were spot-on. It felt like a very natural conversation. Unfortunately, there was no follow-up even when requested. I feel like that is the one thing I see lacking in most of my interview experiences. If a company cares enough to actually speak with a candidate, they should take the time to say thanks, but no thanks. I've learned the network in the DC metro are is a very small one and have run into more than one person and had awkward moment or two because of this.
