      Recruiter Interview

      Sep 17, 2013
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Capri Holdings (New York, NY) in Sep 2013

      Interview

The Director of Recruiting reached out to me on Linkedin to ask me if I wanted to interview. I agreed and we set-up a time. A couple of hours before I was to go in, she cancelled the meeting and said that her train wasn't running, which is fine, things happen! So she asked if I could come in a couple of days later, I said OK. She didn't specify a time, so I followed up the next day, but no response. I waited for awhile and then on Friday reached out to see if we were still on, and still no response. I think it was truly unprofessional not to respond at all. I have heard mixed reviews about the recruiting / hr environment at Michael Kors, and unfortunately, this left a bad taste in my mouth.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Capri Holdings (Las Vegas, NV) in Apr 2015

      Interview

My experience was somewhat unique. I originally interviewed for a higher level recruitment position but was told by the hiring manager that I was probably a little too green. I really appreciated her honesty and I asked her for feedback on what I could do to improve for next time. She told me that they were actually considering opening up a recruiting position that focused solely on Las Vegas and would be more on the level that I was at. I was so excited!! She gave me a number of tips and suggestions. One of them being going around to the different high-end stores and introducing myself and becoming familiar with different managers in the LV market. I started doing this right away in hopes of getting an interview for the lower level position. I probably introduced myself to 30 different managers at locations all across the LV valley. Not an easy thing to do considering how snobby some high-end managers can be. I ended up getting an interview and was ecstatic! I bought a new outfit and prepared as much as I could. I thought the interview went well. The managers were very pleasant! I have no complaints about the interview itself. I followed up with Thank-You's. After a few weeks, I figured I didn't get the position because of the silence. I sent an email to the hiring manager and coordinator to inquire about my status. I never heard a word back. I get that recruiters are busy (being one myself) but I was really disappointed. Asking someone to put that much effort into preparing for an interview and then never letting them know one way or the other just seems unprofessional. It ended up being a blessing in disguise because I l landed a position with an awesome company making more than MK could probably offer.
