I applied in-person. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Carter's (Bloomington, MN) in Sep 2011
Interview
I filled out an application online and heard back from the hiring manager within two or three days. I'm pretty sure I only sent a resume, and didn't send a cover letter. The manager offered me a lot of flexibility for dates and times I could schedule the interview, but was able to get me in the next day! It was a personal (but overly informal) interview in which I felt comfortable showing my true personality and asking "silly" questions about the job. When my background check came back, the regional manager called me to schedule the final interview. I lived about 40 miles from Carter's at that time, and she drover all the way out to meet me.

Interview with the Store manager first, if you pass you will then interview with the District Manager. It’s a possibility that another store manager may interview you as well, before the District manager .It’s a pretty straight forth interview process. If you are the chosen one, they will call to make you an offer.

It was a super fun relaxed interview, they were very transparent, and answered all questions I had. They also made you feel very comfortable like you're just chatting with a friend.
