I was contacted by a recruiter on LinkedIn and after initial hesitation I agreed to have a discussion. I had a pleasant interaction, though I could tell she was rushed because she sounded curt. I moved forward to a conversation with the hiring manager and a few minutes before the interview I had an emergency meeting with my current employer. I immediately emailed the scheduler to inform the HM. When I joined the zoom call the HM was online and had a look of dismay. It turns out the scheduler never informed the HM and the HM then took my “tardiness” out on me. She was rude. She interrupted me intentionally. She made sure I knew she was bored and disinterested. For HR to treat a candidate in such a manner, I am certain that I’ve dodged a bullet and this place is not for me. Who wants to work with a bully?
