Total 3 rounds interview.
First-round with HR: she asked previous experiences, talk about yourself, why you want to work at Celonis. Very nice conversation.
Then they sent me a design task - quite complex one. It required you to spend around 10 hours to design it (you probably would spend around or more than that). The design task is processing mining related task, you should consider edge cases. Also, make sure your design is suitable for all other businesses' needs in different fields/industries.
I send my designs a day before another round interview - I talked through the design challenge during the next round interview, also they will ask you UX related other questions.
After presented my designs and discussed with them, I got an email to do a final round interview.
Final round: with co-founder CTO Martin and CPO Hala. Co-founder didn't show up, only CPO Hala there. She was really busy the whole time - either eating her lunch or checking and replying to her messages, or do both. During one hour interview, she was texting someone the whole time. She even didn't bother to turn off her phone volume. She was late for the interview, and during the interview somehow she dropped the line... I am not sure if she was listening to my answers. Very disrespectful. If she was replying to her messages, she would stop talking, or forgot what she just said.
Hala was asking me behavior questions during this interview. I am sure I didn't say anything that makes her upset. I was smiling and answering all questions nicely. Finally, I got the opportunity of asking her questions, one of my question was "what's your favorite and less favorite parts about Celonis?" Here is Hala's answer - "My favorite part is the people here. Everyone is working hard, startup environment, fast-paced. My least favorite part is Celonis is chaos, everything is unstructured, fast-paced, very chaotic. You know startups." I was speechless at that moment.
A few days later, HR reached out to me said she finally talked with Hala, and decided not moving forward. I asked for feedback, especially feedback from Hala. HR replied to me 'they are not permitted to give further details and information to applicants'.
For designer positions, they give applicants design tasks. Applicants will need to spend efforts on it (for me it's around 10 hours), I think we should be treated better than this. At least respect the candidate's time and effort. Respect.
Respect, or at least be professional.
