I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Century Communities (Greenwood Village, Arapahoe, CO)
Interview
The process started with a very nice phone screen interview and conversation. Some preliminary questions were asked of me asking about the basics on my resume and my attitudes toward employees and clients in stressful situations. I was immediately recommended for a face to face email with an individual.
2 days later I showed up on time and waited for the interviewer in the lobby. Was given mostly smug looks by employees throughout. Eventually 20 minutes later a totally different interviewer than the person I was assigned to got me from the lobby and lead me up to a room in the support section. No big deal.
Immediately off the bat the interviewer was adamant about painting my skills and experience into a box, rather than listening to what I had to say. The questions were random and and generally unrelated to the position. There was a lot of rambling about what, he, the manager, liked to see and what he was doing in the company rather than what I would be doing with employees and clients. He spent 10 minutes explaining how it's crucial that I be liked by him, and how he was called an "ultra professional" by his peers.
Despite my lengthy experience and certifications, the interviewer was condescending and more concerned about posturing. I asked more questions about the position than he gave up willingly in the interview. My questions of the actual job took up more time than he spent explaining it.
The interviewer had trouble even comprehending the basics - he had trouble telling me the most common issues in his department that clients contact support for. He never voluntarily told me the schedule system, or where I would be working. I had to ask. You don't start an interview asking the candidate if they have any questions. It's the interviewers job to ask questions initially. 10 minutes were condescendingly dedicated to explaining to me about how I should write down the questions I have for my next interview. Boy, I really needed the tip. Also, the manager I was supposed to be interviewing with, walked into the room randomly, never addressed or introduced himself to me, asked only the interviewer if everything was alright, and left. These guys were shockingly unprofessional.
It's worth noting that, on the phone interview initially, I asked HR what the candidate/interview pool was like. It was mentioned to me that I was it for the next fill. 2 days later, face to face, the interviewer kept mentioning that there were multiple candidates interviewing for the position and that I might get a call. Cowardly contradiction.
On the way out, a comment was made about my appearance by the same interviewer, which was completely unnecessary, unwarranted and unprofessional. I'm glad they didn't call me back.
