I interviewed with Chemonics for three roles in the last 4 months. The process during the first interviewing experience was fine. It was all clearly communicated by the HR contact. I had an initial screening that lasted about 20 minutes. I was told I'd hear back in a week if I'd move on to the next round. A week later I hear back that I made it to the 2nd round. It was a panel interview. It was fairly intense. It was the most questions I had been asked in an interview. It covered behavioral and scenario questions. I was told I was not selected a week later, which is how long they said it would take to hear back. Even though I didn't get an offer I thought the process was straightforward, transparent, and communicative.
I applied for two other positions in January. I was selected for interviews for both. With both of these I had a much much worse experience. It changed my opinion of Chemonics a lot. Both had initial interviews set up and I was basically stood up for both. I waited around when they said they would call me and never got a call. When I reached out by email to double check if it was still scheduled, the HR contact responded with no explanation or apology, but just "can you do an hour later?" I said yes. An hour later I never got a phone call, email, or anything. I spent my morning waiting around to do an interview that never happened. It was so disrespectful and unprofessional. Total disregard for anything going on in my life at that time. After 45 minutes I emailed them and they just responded with a request to reschedule for later in the day. I said yes, because I need a job and have wanted to work at Chemonics for some time. In the afternoon, they finally called me for the interview 10 minutes late! It was the shortest interview I ever had. It was basically robotic with no follow up, totally scripted, and no details on the process or next steps. I never heard anything back at all.
For the third opportunity, the HR contact did not call when the initial interview was scheduled for. I emailed them to see what happened. They said they weren't sure if it was confirmed. It had been. We rescheduled. It went fine once at the rescheduled time. About 20 minutes, basic questions, not too in depth, more clear about the position and process, and next steps were shared. I heard back within the time I had been told I would that I would have a 2nd round panel interview. It was 90 minutes long. That is a long interview to me. I really enjoyed the people I met. I thought they asked thoughtful questions and were personable. I was told I would hear back in a week and a half or two weeks. It has been a month. After three weeks I sent a follow up email asking for an update, even just an update on a changed timeline. I never heard anything. No response at all. After putting in basically two hours of interviews and prep time I didn't even get a response of any sort. Absolutely unprofessional.
