I was contacted for and participated in a phone interview, which seemed to go well. Following the phone interview, I was asked to attend an in-person interview in Washington. That's when things started to fall apart. The first interview date they selected turned out to be a company holiday, so I was forced to reschedule my flights at my own expense to another date in addition to the expense already incurred for the tickets in the first place. When I arrived, I was asked to take a test on accounting practices, which I passed. I then sat in a panel interview, which seemed to go well. Everything seemed great until I attempted to follow up a week later. They never responded. When you ask someone to incur significant personal expense for an interview, especially when you are at fault for exacerbating that expense, one would think that it's a reasonable courtesy to at least let them know if they're no longer being considered.
