The interview process was very slow. The recruiter did a horrible job coordinating the schedule & he was very disrespectful & unprofessional throughout the interview process. Before the first round screening, I submitted my availability & got an confirmation email with specific time & date for the 1st round interview. The recruiter called a day early without any notice & went thro my background & gave me an assessment link as next step. The assessment is simply couple multiple choice questions on HackerRank. Not difficult but tricky in term of small syntax error etc. After I submitted the assessment, it took over a week for the next round. The recruiter informed me that the next round would be a 1h technical round & No more details mentioned in the email. I simply followed up and tried to get more information in term of format & languages in the technical screening. The response from recruiter was "a resume review & overall introduction to some of the great things we are doing here at Chewy"! very helpful LOL... This round is quite technical with A LOTS of Data Warehouse design & performance tuning & SQL syntax & DW tools questions. Some regular behavior questions in the end as well. After the technical round, no response from the recruiter for the next step. I had to follow up after almost a week & in the meantime I got a offer. I informed the recruiter my status & tried to have him accelerate the process. It was not a smooth process for scheduling as usual. Finally the panel interviews scheduled a day before I need to get back to the other company. The panel round was about 3.5 hours with technical product manager, hiring manager, a senior member in the team, director of the team (45 min with each person), and a 15min wrap up with the recruiter. This round was quite intensive with a mix of DWE typical technical questions & behavior questions (a lots questions on how to handle priorities). The team is looking for a much more technical candidate for this role. After all the 45min rounds with the team, the recruiter was supposed to wrap up the interview for 15min. Guess what, HE DID NOT SHOW UP to the zoom call & NO RESPONSE to my emails either. I waited on the zoom for extra 10min but it is a NO SHOW in the end. Obviously I need to get back to the other company the second day and hoping to get some sort of response from Chewy. But the recruiter did not respond at all knowing that this is a time-sensitive situation. The day after I accepted the other offer, the recruiter sent an formal rejection email WITHOUT ANY APOLOGY FOR A NO SHOW!! To be honest, I like Chewy as a company, but come on! Please hire better people doing the recruiting job! This is literally the worst experience I ever had with any recruiters. The bare minimal principle -- be respectful & professional!
