I was approached on LinkedIn by a recruiter about a role. I am happy in my current role but Chewy has always been on my radar. I agreed to a call and coordinated a call with the recruiter that reached out. She was a no show to the first call she scheduled. I reached out to her to see if we were still meeting maybe 7 or 8 minutes in and she said she was on another call than ran over and we decided it would just be best to reschedule at that point bc we both had other obligations (I cancelled an appointment for this after hours call). As a recruiter myself, I know this happens but she could have/should have taken literally 30 seconds to email me to let them know she’d be late. After offering up some times the next day, she got to me, agreed to one of the times I mentioned and said she would send a calendar invite “now”…I got the invite 15 hours later. The call was scheduled for a totally different day and time than what I mentioned and there was a very “sloppy” note to propose a new time if that didn’t work. She was 10 minutes late for the rescheduled call. I had somewhere else to be and at that point logged off and left my home office. I was literally walking about the door and she called, apologized, and tried to make a joke about it. The call was HORRIBLE. She rudely commented on my LinkedIn picture, kept talking about how she would “let me have my full time for the call” when she was the one that was late, and not taking my evening plans into consideration at all (this was after working hours). When explaining processes in my current role (a well-known tech company), she was degrading and insulting everything I said and talked about how much better her team was, they would never do it that way, etc. I am totally open to feedback, but the tone made me feel like it was middle school. At this point, I was completely disengaged. She started talking about how much more successful Chewy is than my current company…it was bizarre (also, looking at “the numbers” - her comments are totally inaccurate. My current company is valued at over 90B more that Chewy ). She told me she was really excited and wanted to progress forward and even gave me team options to choose from…it’s been a week and well…nothing. This experience has totally changed how I look at Chewy. I would never, ever want to work there after this horrendous experience. The worst interview/phone screening (if you can call it that) of my 15 year career. The recruiter needs a lesson in candidate experience and how to be a decent human.
