Was contacted by recruiter in linkedin for a hiring event. I could not attend it, and got a follow-up from the recruiter to meet over a phone conversation. I accepted it.
When we met over phone, the recruiter did not seem to know that I never made it to the hiring event and we were speaking for the very first time. He literally did not try to sell me the company, vision or role for which he reached to me twice.
He even suggested that they selected a role that they thought I was fit for. Not sure how since they only looked at my linked in profile until now.
Answered a few questions, and pretty much asked what my comp expectation was and whether i needed a visa.
Before hanging up upon my asking, he promised to send me the job req for me to apply (did not realize he did not even have my resume with him).
Usually these calls are followed up almost instantly for motivated recruiters, no such case for me. I had to wait till next day, and drop in a follow-up thank you email asking for the job req link to apply to as we discussed yesterday.
In reply i get a one liner. Just the job link. No salutation, no details, no thank you's just a one liner. That is utter disregard, and disrespect especially when I did not apply for a job, but they approached me, TWICE to have a conversation.
Since that this point the only extra information he had besides my linkedin profile is my comp expectation, i am bound to make the assumption that he figured that he cannot match my expectations so he lost interest in me. That is fine, but the minimum i expect is a respectful communication. After all I did not come asking for a job, and when they looked me up and saw where I worked, i only expected them to have a fair bit of knowledge of what i would be making and if that is something they can match. Apparently nothing as such happened.
Really poor experience with their attempt to hire leadership roles. Hope it does not reflect the company culture.
