One of my contacts who works at Chewy reached out and asked if I would be interested in joining the team; the interview consisted of a conversation with a hiring manager and a recruiter, followed by a panel interview with a few stakeholders/colleagues.
The interviews weren't difficult, and I enjoyed meeting the team and our conversations. The recruiter was not professional and was not helpful at all during the process. During my initial conversation with the leader of the larger team I made him aware of the compensation I was targeting, and I was told it would not be a problem. Except at the end, I was offered a much lower compensation to my surprise. When I declined the offer, the recruiter asked me if I would reconsider if they came up with more money somewhere. I answered yes and never heard from the recruiter again. The lack of follow through and lack of professionalism was very disappointing. If the company decide that was their final offer, it's not hard to shoot an email and let the candidate know.
