I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Ciena (Ottawa, ON) in Nov 2013
Interview
I was contacted by a recruiting agent by telephone initially. An interview was scheduled that ended being about two-and-ahalf hours in length.
I was greeted very professionally by my manager (to-be) and he was the first person to interview me. He basically went over my resume and experience and did not test me on a lot of technical questions and there were no programming quizzes, in fact that was the theme throughout the interview.
Thereafter, my manager left and I was interviewed by two pairs of people in succession; one pair consisted of two Principal (i.e. level-4) Software Engineers both belonging to my immediate team and the second pair was also a level-4 Software Engineer along with a different manager.
Thereafter, my manager returned to finish up the interview and discussed some of the products that the team worked on.
I was then invited to be interviewed with the Director on another day. That ended the interview process
Cancelled my rescheduled interview without any communication from HR. Got ghosted when asked for an explanation. 2 days later, I get a notification that the position is closed. Will never bother applying here again.
Good experience. Only 2 interviews; 1 for soft skills and 1 for technical skills. I ended up getting the job. Fairly easy interview. Good place to work. Why need many word, when few word do trick?
